Playa de las Viudas is a small but charming beach located in Peñíscola, just below the Civil Guard barracks. It is less well known than the larger beaches in the area—such as Playa Norte or Playa Sur—which makes it a perfect destination for those seeking a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere by the Mediterranean.

Location and features
The beach is located right next to Peñíscola’s Playa Sur, very close to the town centre and the fishing port, making it easily accessible on foot from the centre.
It is approximately 110 metres long and about 15 metres wide, with a total area of around 1,650 m². The sand is generally fine and golden, and the waters are usually calm, making it ideal for swimmers and families who prefer less crowded spaces.

Atmosphere and services
Unlike other larger urban beaches, Playa de las Viudas stands out for its tranquillity and lower number of visitors, even during the high season, which many people appreciate for its welcoming, natural, and unhurried atmosphere.
Although it is quite small, the beach offers basic services such as showers, litter bins, and regular cleaning, although it does not have permanent lifeguard surveillance.

Views and surroundings
From the beach, visitors can enjoy pleasant views of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as the coastal landscape and the harbour. Its proximity to Peñíscola’s historic centre allows visitors to combine a day at the beach with cultural visits, such as the famous Papa Luna Castle.

In summary, Playa de las Viudas is a typical corner of Peñíscola that offers a balance between accessibility and tranquillity, ideal for those who wish to enjoy a more intimate setting without moving far from the main attractions of this coastal town.
