Peñíscola becomes a film set once again with new immersive tourism experiences

Peñíscola will once again immerse itself in the world of cinema with a new edition of its immersive tourism experiences, a unique proposal that will allow participants to step into some of the major film productions that have used the town’s streets and landscapes as their setting.
During the activity, different areas of the historic citadel will be staged and decorated to recreate the atmosphere of the major audiovisual productions filmed in Peñíscola. Participants will be able to step into the roles of Tyrion Lannister, Charlton Heston or the legendary buccaneers from adventure films, taking part in the recreation of a real film shoot under the direction of a film director and accompanied by a professional technical crew.
The live cinematic experience will take place from 8 to 12 October at various emblematic locations throughout the town, including Plaza de Bous, the Museum of the Sea, Plaza Santa María and Playa Sur. Each location will feature its own setting and theme inspired by the major film productions that have chosen Peñíscola as a filming location.
The experience, already firmly established as part of the town’s immersive tourism programme, invites visitors to discover Peñíscola from a different perspective, bringing them closer to the atmosphere of a genuine outdoor film shoot and allowing them to imagine what the town looked like during the productions that helped turn it into one of Spain’s great film locations.
The Councillor for Tourism, Ramón Simó, highlighted that the activity «has become a meeting point for those who want to feel part of an outdoor film shoot», while also allowing participants to «imagine what Peñíscola looked like during the productions that have historically turned it into a city of cinema».
The recreations will be inspired by different genres and productions linked to Peñíscola’s cinematic heritage, with settings inspired by the film Calabuch, as well as pirate-themed experiences, heroic fantasy and medieval historical recreations.
In this way, Peñíscola once again highlights its close relationship with the seventh art, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to become the protagonists of a cinematic experience for a few hours, in some of the town’s most recognisable film locations.
