The Tourism Department of Peñíscola City Council has organised a new event dedicated to local gastronomy for Saturday, 26 September, along the seafront promenade. The event will feature food tastings, live cooking demonstrations and children’s workshops, combining gastronomy, creativity and some of the audiovisual productions that have chosen Peñíscola as a filming location.

The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will bring together chefs from Caffè del Mar, Camino de Santiago, Porta d’Irta, Marínba Tío Pepe, Nacra, Roca Mar, Mareva Blue and El Mercat restaurants.

Visitors will be able to taste around ten tapas inspired by films and TV series filmed in the town. Prices will range from €3 to €6.50, with creations including Meereen Rice, El Tesoro del Cid, Calabuch Burger, Bravas de Ficción, Isla del Hierro Mini Burger, Meereen Mini Brioche, El Cid Skewer, Tizona Cake, París-Tumbuctú Bread and El Chiringuito de Pepe Toast.

The event follows the success of the first gastronomic fair of its kind, held last year, which served more than 2,000 tapas. Ramón Simó, Councillor for Tourism, explained that the City Council has decided to "continue supporting this format after our Patron Saint Festivities", with the aim of extending activity in the destination once the high season has come to an end and creating "a new high-quality reason to attract attention and visitors to our destination".

Simó also thanked the participating restaurants and culinary professionals for their involvement, collaboration and professionalism.

The event will also include activities specially designed for children. Kids will be able to take part free of charge in different workshops where they will prepare simple recipes, make crafts using dried food products and decorate kitchen utensils.

The afternoon programme will feature one of the highlights of the day: live cooking demonstrations. From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., chefs from Caffè del Mar, Marínba Tío Pepe, Nacra and Porta d’Irta will demonstrate how they prepare some of their dishes, share cooking tips and tricks, and present some of the most representative recipes from their restaurants.

With this event, Peñíscola once again highlights its gastronomic heritage and its close connection with the audiovisual industry, offering residents and visitors the chance to enjoy local cuisine in a privileged setting beside the sea.
