The North Beach of Peñíscola renews its Blue Flag status
May 5, 2026 - 20:05
The North Beach of Peñíscola has once again renewed its Blue Flag status, consolidating its position as one of the leading tourist and environmental references along the coastline of the province of Castellón.
This recognition, awarded annually by the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education, certifies the excellent quality of its waters, safety standards, services, and sustainable coastal management.
In 2026, the province of Castellón will have 36 beaches awarded with this distinction, maintaining the high standard of its coastal offering. The renewal of North Beach is part of this positive trend, in which most beaches have retained their awards, demonstrating a strong institutional commitment to tourism quality.
Along more than five kilometres, you will find everything you need for a hassle-free experience:
- Lifeguard and safety services
- Accessible entrances and walkways
- Showers, sunbed and umbrella rental
- Water sports and sports areas
- A lively promenade filled with restaurants and terraces
This is not just a place to sunbathe — it’s where you truly experience the Mediterranean.
What does the Blue Flag really mean?
The Blue Flag is one of the most internationally recognised eco-labels. It guarantees that the beach meets strict criteria in:
- Water quality
- Cleanliness and maintenance
- Safety and services
- Environmental sustainability
In other words, it offers peace of mind for travellers.
A distinction that guarantees quality and sustainability
The Blue Flag is one of the most demanding international recognitions for beaches. Its award is based on criteria such as water quality, environmental management, user information, and safety, including rescue services and accessibility.
In the case of North Beach, these standards are consistently met. This extensive urban beach, stretching over five kilometres, offers comprehensive facilities for visitors, including surveillance, adapted access, sports areas, and tourist amenities, enhancing its appeal for both national and international visitors.
A long-standing commitment to quality tourism
The renewal of the Blue Flag is no coincidence. North Beach has been receiving this award for years, reflecting a sustained strategy based on investment in cleanliness, maintenance, and service improvement.
In addition, Peñíscola stands out for holding multiple complementary certifications —such as the “Q” for tourism quality and environmental management seals— strengthening its position as a safe, sustainable, and competitive destination within Mediterranean tourism.
